Wedding Singer love

Watched the movie “The Wedding Singer” over the weekend for about the 100th time. Just love it. I’m not a big Adam Sandler fan but he is adorable in this movie. The fact that it’s set in the 80s and plays a lot of the songs I love doesn’t hurt anything.

I can’t help it – I’m a child of the 80s! πŸ˜‰

For those of you who know the movie know the song “True” is sung in the last scene by another “wedding singer”: Mega-talented actor Steve Buscemi. His version is deliberately funny and off key. The original is, of course, much better:

The original song was played in 1984’s “Sixteen Candles” movie. I think it’s during the scene where Samantha is watching her high school crush Jake dance with his girlfriend Caroline at the prom.

Ah. Memories. πŸ˜€

Preparing for the premiere of Eclipse

I haven’t been this excited about a movie premiere since, well, New Moon came out. πŸ˜‰ A sneak peek clip of Eclipse:

Still haven’t read the whole Twilight series (have just read Twilight), even though I have all four books in hardback in a special hardback case. πŸ˜‰ I’ll get around to it. It’s just that my stack of “books to read” is so high …

Looking to get a daily quick fix before the official June 30 release date? Go here.

Oh, and BTW, some people are under the impression that it’s just teenage girls who love this series. I can assure you it’s not just them. My sisters are older than I am, and they love it. I have numerous friends who dig it. Was reading some Tweets just a few days ago from fellow Tweeps who like it. A lot of women just enjoy the love story, a story about a man who will go through whatever it takes to make sure the woman he loves is always safe and happy, and the woman who loves him and would do anything for him in spite of his one glaring fault: that he’s a vampire, but didn’t choose to be.

I’ll be seeing it at least twice – once with a friend as part of her birthday celebration, and the other time with my sisters. Both times this weekend. πŸ˜€

Living with New Moon fever

Even yours truly isn’t a stranger to feeling a little of the excitement Twihards all over the country felt today at the release of New Moon, the sequel to Twilight – both, of course, based on the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer. Was going to wait a couple of weeks before going to see it, when I figured the crowds would have died down a bit – but I couldn’t wait that long. Me and my sis, who is also a big Twilight fan, will be going to a morning showing of it tomorrow at a theater near where she lives. We’re hoping that we’ll be early enough that we’ll be able to get into the theater without being crushed by a mob πŸ˜‰

Here’s one of the trailers from the movie:

For all two of you who are curious as to which “camp” I’m in, both my sis and I are “Team Edward” gals all the way. πŸ˜€

People really have been going vampire crazy over the last several years, eh? There are several TV series’ out that are all about vampires, including HBO’s True Blood and CW’s Vampire Diaries (the latter of which I watch). VD is based on the early 90s book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith, who I’m sure has been accused more than once of “stealing” from the Twilight series, even though the Twilight series came out well after hers did.

What is it about vampires we (or let me rephrase that: women) like about vampires? Well, I think it boils down to the age old thing of women having a thing for bad boys. In the case of Edward Cullen, it’s liking a guy who is supposed to be “bad” but who in reality is good – he’s someone who is always struggling to keep his, um, more primal urges under control. He’s got a sense of humor, he’s talented, he’s strong, he’s protective, he’s loyal, good looking … he’s pretty much the total package.

Except for the whole “undead” thing πŸ˜€

Favorite movie scenes

We all have favorite movies where certain scenes are just simply unforgettable. Some of the scenes make you really think about life in general, while others are simply meant to … enjoy. The one below, well, you can figure out which category it falls in πŸ˜€

And no, don’t think liking that movie makes me a Tom Cruise fan. Well, I was, til he started getting goofy with the Scientology stuff. Val Kilmer and his co-star/volleyball partner steal that scene for me. In fact, I dig Val Kilmer, even though in real life he’s a complete jerk. He’s made a lot of movies, most of them never getting much acclaim (outside of The Doors movie?), but he’s really good. Watch him in The Saint, if you don’t believe me. Cheesy as hell movie, but he plays multiple characters and he does it very well. Here’s the trailer:

The soundtrack’s killer, too.
